Module 4: Event Security

Certificate Module

Event Security

Ensuring the safety of everyone at an event is a challenging process calling for a range of skills and knowledge including, knowledge of audience profiling, the setting in which the event occurs and ensuring safe access, circulation and egress. In this module participants will be introduced to crowd profiling and behaviour detection techniques in order to be able to anticipate potential problems and devise mitigations.

Participants will consider the particular challenges of different venues, such as green field sites, indoor spaces, stadia and public spaces. Each represents possibilities and challenges in terms of safety for all those involved.

This module includes a site visit to a proposed festival site which enables the participants to appreciate and develop knowledge and understanding at first-hand of the tasks involved and the need for any security plan to recognise and cater for specific challenges as well as indicating where resources, both human and material, should be deployed.

What you will be able to do

On successful completion of this module you will be able to:
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of crowd profiling and the basics of behavior detection

  • Create an Event Security Plan and indicate how it would be implemented
  • Be able to calculate the physical and human resource needs of the plan proposed.

Assessment Arrangements
